The Bollywood comedy “Udta Teer,” starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, was released in cinemas on October 9, 2026, according to reports. The film is backed by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment and marks the directorial debut of writer Akash A Kaushik.

According to reports, “Udta Teer” brings Khurrana and Khan together on the big screen for the second time, following their earlier collaboration in “Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.” The pairing has been a central part of the film’s appeal, with the comedy pairing two of the industry’s most recognisable younger stars.

The film’s producers include Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, according to reports. The combination of Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment behind the project brings together two banners known for backing distinctive, content-led Hindi cinema alongside mainstream entertainment.

For director Akash A Kaushik, the release marks a significant milestone. Known previously as a writer, Kaushik steps behind the camera for the first time with “Udta Teer,” according to reports, taking on a full-length comedy headlined by established stars in his directorial debut.

The October 9 release places the film in a busy theatrical window for Hindi cinema, where comedies traditionally compete strongly for family audiences. According to reports, trade attention will focus on the film’s opening response and word of mouth, which often determine how a comedy performs beyond its first weekend.

With its star pairing, first-time director and heavyweight producing team, “Udta Teer” arrives as one of the notable Hindi releases of the season. According to reports, the film’s performance will also be watched as a marker of audience appetite for big-screen comedy led by established stars and backed by marquee production houses.

According to reports, industry watchers will also be tracking how the film performs across single screens and multiplexes alike, as comedies headlined by popular stars often build momentum through repeat family viewings. A strong opening for “Udta Teer” would mark an encouraging start both for its first-time director and for its ensemble of producers.
