About Us

Official News Web — what this publication covers, how the Staff Reports desk works, and the standards readers can hold it to.

Verified news, straight from the newsroom. Official News Web is a record-first report that begins with documents and accountable statements, then tests what officials say against outcomes.

Official News Web was created for readers who have learned to ask a necessary question: official according to whom, and supported by what? Governments, courts, companies, universities, leagues and cultural institutions all issue statements designed to frame events. Those statements matter, but they are evidence to be examined—not conclusions to be pasted under a headline.

Our newsroom starts with the record. We seek the filing, statute, judgment, dataset, transcript, direct statement or observable event behind a claim, then place it beside independent reporting and practical consequences. The result should allow a reader to distinguish a decision from a proposal, an allegation from a finding, and a promise from a delivered result.

What we cover

The desk reports across U.S. public affairs, government, world events, business, technology, health, science, sport and culture. Coverage is organised for use rather than novelty: a reader should be able to move from the first confirmed facts to the institution, community or decision that gives those facts weight. We publish breaking reports when events justify them, fuller news stories when the record is ready, and explanatory coverage when the important question is not simply what happened, but why it happened and what happens next.

What the name requires

Official is a discipline, not a badge of obedience. When an agency announces a policy, Official News Web asks when it takes effect, whom it covers, what authority supports it and what remains unresolved. When a company reports a milestone, we look for the filing or measurable outcome behind the language. When a public figure makes an accusation, the identity of the speaker does not turn it into a fact.

Public affairs at the centre

The site gives special weight to the institutions that exercise power over everyday life: legislatures, executives, courts, regulators, public-health bodies, schools, police oversight systems and public companies. Coverage follows both the announcement and the implementation. Many important stories occur after the cameras leave, in deadlines missed, funds unspent, rules quietly revised or services that do not reach the people named in a release.

Verification before velocity

A Staff Reports story is assembled from primary material and reputable reporting, with consequential claims checked before publication. Names, dates, numbers, quotations and jurisdictions receive particular care because small errors in official reporting can mislead readers about rights, money or safety. If the evidence supports only a limited statement, the article makes that limit plain instead of borrowing confidence from a headline elsewhere.

World, business and the practical record

International coverage concentrates on conflicts, diplomacy, disasters, trade and public-health developments with identifiable consequences. Business reporting follows filings, markets, labour, consumer conditions and corporate conduct, while Technology examines the institutions and products changing how people work and communicate. Health and Science stories state the quality of the evidence, the population studied and what experts do not yet know.

Sports and culture without publicity drift

Official results, governing-body decisions, contracts and cultural releases are useful sources, but they are not immune from scrutiny. Sports coverage reports competition and the organisations around it; Entertainment follows creative work, industry change and public controversies while separating confirmed fact from promotional claims and social-media momentum.

Network support without newsroom cloning

Official News Web belongs to 24World Media’s 33-publication network and uses shared infrastructure for secure publishing, subscriptions and distribution. Its editorial selection is site-specific. A report may move through the network when another outlet’s audience needs it, but that does not make this site a duplicate of its sisters. The Official desk is accountable for the framing and factual discipline of what appears here.

Corrections as part of the record

Official records change: guidance is withdrawn, judgments are appealed, figures are restated and officials correct themselves. Our articles are updated when the record changes, and errors introduced by this newsroom are corrected transparently. Readers can submit a correction through Contact with the headline, the disputed passage and the source that should be checked. That process is not an inconvenience to journalism; it is one of its controls.

Our publishing standard

Every story is expected to answer four questions honestly: What is established? Who says so? What remains uncertain? Why does it matter to the reader? Headlines must be supported by the article beneath them. Quotations are not trimmed to change meaning, figures are not lifted from context without dates or definitions, and a developing story is not presented as settled merely because other outlets have moved on.

Official News Web is operated as part of 24World Media from 24World Media, 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067, United States. Editorial mail is handled through the Contact page. Please use that route for news tips, corrections, partnership questions and legal notices so the message reaches the correct desk.
